WILLIAMSON COUNTY,Texas (KXAN) — Williamson County EMS says it will teach members of the public how to administer life-saving overdose-reversing medication in an effort to improve the odds of survival amid the ongoing opioid crisis.Stacee Henrichs, assistant outreach education coordinator for WCEMS, said the class will teach attendees how to identify the signs of an opioid overdose and how to administer Naloxone, which reverses an overdose in progress. She said the class aims to familiarize people with what steps to take in the event of an overdose so they are prepared to intervene when needed."If they can recognize that it's an opioid overdose, they can get them the life saving medication and administer it before EMS ever gets there, rather than not knowing what to do, and then that person ends up in cardiac arrest," Henrichs said. This year, WCEMS said it has submitted 105 presumed opioid overdose cases to Bluebonnet Trails Community Services for outreach. A look at Friday’s high school football championship games at U.S. Bank Stadium. Finals in the other classes will be played on Saturday.CLASS 6ACentennial (11-1) vs. Edina (9-3), 7 p.m.A fitting championship matchup in Minnesota’s largest-schools division, these have been the two best teams in Class 6A over the past two months. It’s fun to see two fresh faces on such a stage. This is the Cougars’ first trip to the title game since 1984. For Edina, it’s the Hornets’ first championship game since Edina West won it all in 1978. Edina’s multi-faceted offense has served as a riddle no opponent could solve, not even Eden Prairie last week. The Hornets’ early scores prevented Eden Prairie from taking control of the game with ball possession. Centennial will look for a better start than the Eagles to allow its physicality to truly take hold. He also was a lineman on the only Centennial team to reach the state championship game prior to this year’s team, which will square off with Edina for the Class 6A crown at 7 p.m. Friday at U.S. Bank Stadium.Barrett’s Cougars made their memorable run in 1984, reaching the Prep Bowl, which was just in its infant stages back then, where they fell 32-7 to Hutchinson in the Class A final at the Metrodome.“Now to see Maverick and the Cougars go on this run, it’s really exciting,” Barrett said. “It’s just unbelievable.”As was Centennial’s run 39 years ago.
