Opinion: If leading Colorado’s Republican Party won’t pay, why not aim for the White House

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Though we’ve all heard it before, it is still striking to me what some people will do when they get desperate. None is more striking and desperate than all Republican State Party Chairman Dave Williams has gone through to earn a living, while at the same time working to grow his power and influence in the political world.Don’t get me wrong, we should all make earning a living a priority in our lives. It becomes a problem though when that priority’s need replaces good judgment and ethical behavior. Unfortunately, after numerous failed attempts to increase stature, status, and pay, this is where Chairman Williams finds himself, desperately focusing on self-interest at the peril of the state’s Republican Party.Dave served in the Colorado General Assembly from 2016 to 2022. Like many, he left this job early because it doesn’t pay a living wage. So, in 2022 he launched a bid to replace his $40,000 per year salary in the state House to pursue t...California Pizza Hut operators laying off all delivery drivers

What happens to the billions spent on unused gift cards? "PacPizza, LLC, operating as Pizza Hut, has made a business decision to eliminate first-party delivery services and, as a result, the elimination of all delivery driver positions," a federal WARN Act notice filed by the franchisee said. The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) requires employers to provide notification 60 calendar day...Kanye West issues apology for antisemitic comments in Hebrew

Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, took to social media Tuesday to apologize for a series of antisemitic comments he made last year. The post, which received more than 1.3 million likes and over 69,000 comments in 11 hours on Instagram, was written entirely in Hebrew. I am committed to starting with myself and learning from this experience to ensure greater sensitivity and understanding in the future. Your forgiveness is important to me, and I am committed to making amends and promoting unity.” Ye sparked controversy when, in Oct. 2022, he tweeted that he would soon go “death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE,” making an apparent reference to the U.S. defense readiness condition scale known as DEFCON. In addition, Ye also received backlash for wearing a “W...Ashley Vailes Dies in Red-Light Collision on 35th Avenue [Phoenix, AZ]

When San Jose State anthropology professor Elizabeth Weiss tweeted a picture to celebrate returning to campus in September 2021, it caught the attention of Assemblymember James Ramos, a Democrat from San Bernardino and the Legislature’s first and only Native American member.“So happy to be back with some old friends,” read the caption of Weiss’ tweet, which included a photo of her holding the skull of a Native ancestor in front of boxes of other remains. For Ramos, a member of the San Manuel Indian Reservation’s Serrano/Cahuilla tribe, the caption was an example of the lack of respect for Native history in California. The boxes in the photograph’s background were a reminder of the vast collections of Native remains and artifacts still being held illegally in California’s public university systems. The post prompted Ramos to request an audit of the California State University’s repatriation progress — the act of institutions giving back remains and artifacts to Native tribes as require...High Surf Warning issued for Thursday along Bay Area coastline
