Vikings’ Danielle Hunter leads NFL in sacks, even as trade rumors swirl

Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 21:28:56 GMT

Danielle Hunter doesn’t look like he’s slowing down anytime soon. The 28-year-old pass rusher is currently tied for the NFL lead with 8.0 sacks, proving to be a menace for the Vikings off the edge like he has been his whole career. If Hunter (79.0 career sacks) gets to the quarterback again, which seems like a forgone conclusion at this point, he will jump ahead of former fan favorite Everson Griffen (79.5 sacks) on the Vikings’ career sacks list. The most impressive part about Hunter’s dominance this season is the fact that he has been able to do it while his name has constantly been attached to trade rumors.Would the Vikings actually be willing to move Hunter? That remains to be seen with the Oct. 31 trade deadline slowly coming into focus. In the meantime, Hunter did his part over the weekend to quiet down the noise, posting a pair of sacks as the Vikings earned a 19-13 victory over the Chicago Bears. He also had a quarterback pressure that directly led to vet...

Editorial: Hamas attack was terrorism. Period.

Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 21:28:56 GMT

There should be no debate over the language we use to describe Hamas and its depraved Oct. 7 attack on Israel.Hamas is a terrorist organization, and the acts of its agents on Oct. 7, when they crossed the border into Israel with the express intent of killing and kidnapping civilians, were terrorism. That makes them terrorists. While some have suggested Hamas’ political role in Gaza means it is not a terrorist organization, it is clearly targeting civilians for political ends, which is the very definition of terrorism..The danger in using euphemisms such as “militants” to describe terrorists is that it normalizes heinous acts of terrorism and implies that the deliberate targeting of civilians is a military act and that Hamas at large has some other, less despicable objective.Related ArticlesOpinion | Trump returns to his civil fraud trial, hears an employee and an appraiser testify against him Opinion | Republicans reject Rep. Tired of watching the Broncos lose? You’ve got options in Colorado.

What’s a football-loving Coloradan to do?A Denver Post reader recently left a voicemail for the staff taking issue with the front page of Sunday’s sports section. “CU losing,” the caller said, sounding fully fed up. “Broncos shouldn’t even be playing. … CU and the Broncos should  not even be covered until they manage to win a game.”A little stern, but I’ve received much nastier messages than that in my career. And the caller has a point.Denver’s got a Super Bowl-winning coach teaming up with a Super Bowl-winning quarterback to present some bafflingly inept football for a three-time Super Bowl-winning franchise. Yuck. Now, The Post is not about to stop covering Colorado’s NFL team or its flagship university’s football team. Wouldn’t be prudent, to quote Dana Carvey quoting George Bush in skits that aired when I was in preschool. But I suspect this reader, who did not leave a name, isn’t the only one who’s sick of watching the Buffs and Broncos lose.I’m here to tell you you’ve got opti...
